Long time no blog! Well, the wait is worth it, I promise… I’m about to bombard you will more posts than you can imagine. First up: Candice and Scott. We had a great snowy engagement shoot this spring up in Nederland (view their engagement photos here). Fast forward six month to sunny Boulder where they enjoyed a intimate brunch wedding at the Greenbriar Inn.

Candice and Scott were gifted with a beautiful early fall morning. I guess I can’t hide that I’m behind on my blogging, look how green the tree is!

Here we have the Father of the Bride with the Groom. What characters! I love this shot!

Anna and Mike = Most Bestest Wedding Couple Ever

If you ever want to gert on my good side, then you should text message me that you and your husband love me, like Anna does. You could probably get in good with a lot of other people in this manner as well.

We kicked things off at the St. Julian Hotel in lovely Boulder, Colorado. I got yelled at for sitting of the floor in the lobby shooting this next photo. I hope they know that they shouldn’t get in the way of art . . . I’ve already got another wedding booked there in 2009. C’mon, can’t you see how good she looks?!?!

And just in case you thought this was going to be an arty black and white blog entry . . . oh ho no! Bring on the color at the Koenig Alumni House on the University of Colorado campus.

I’m such a sap, sometimes when I’m shooting uber-close-up photos of my couples crying during the vows, I get sucked in. This was one of those times.

I found out that the night before their engagement shoot, they got in a big old fight, and that’s why they were so stiff during it. No such problems getting in the mood today! Anna and Mike like the funky shots, so I went hog wild.

Did I mention that we had a ton of fun? Seriously. Anna and Mike like to party.

Well I could stay here all night and post more photos, but I’ve got more more more weddings to edit. I’ll leave you with a sampling of silly and sweet, in that order. Anna and Mike are so in love it’s silly, and unplanned butt grabs are indubitably sweet. Steve Z out.

Oh ya, one more thing . . . the return of the wedding slideshow. To view Anna and Mike’s slideshow on its own page, CLICK HERE.
Roaring Good Wedding Photography at Boulder Canyon’s Red Lion Inn

With the bad joke meter already pegged at 10, we blast off into another episode of the Steve Z Wedding Blog . . .

Christine and Matt got married on July 4th. Matt says that it’s a good day for an anniversary because he won’t be able to forget it. That must have been what my Mom was thinking when she married my step-dad on his birthday!

You’ve seen Matt before on this blog. He was a groomsman in Leah and Matthew’s wedding. You didn’t recognize him because he was wearing a Speedo. He looks even happier now with his girl coming down the aisle.

Well other than that post, both Matt and Tina were posted on this blog after their engagement shoot. I guess I forgot about that one, mostly because the image of the Speedo boys has been burned into my retinas. Ok, I need a new image . . . Christine is yet another hot Boulder triathlon girl. I’m getting a lot of triathlon brides, it seems these guys are snatching them up like they are going out of style. But that’s silly, how can beauty like this ever go out of style?

Maybe in LA they will figure out a way. But here in Boulder, we like it fit and natural. And the Red Lion in has a scenic, outdoor ceremony and reception location. I love a venue where I can take a wide angle ceremony shot.

The Red Lion is right on Boulder Creek, just a little ways out of town. It was smokin’ hot, but we had some nice shade to shoot underneath.

And even shadier than that was the tunnel underneath the roaring highway, next to the roaring river. It wasn’t nearly as shady as my humor, however. See, look in their eyes, they are clearly laughing at me, I can tell.

And even funnier than that, is playing with big gobs of whipped cream. There were lots of people having a great time in the reception tent. I was one of them!

But it wasn’t all goofing around . . . Matt and Tina revealed some serious top secret dance move training for their first dance. I love this image, Matt is like, “Yeah baby, I’m the man, and I can twirl you all night long!”

We’ll wrap things up with a little long exposure night shot looking back up at the Inn from Boulder Creek. Silky.

Hey everyone, thanks for checking out the pics, and double thanks if you even bothered to read all this jibber jabber! Finally we have a slideshow with a lot more photos. Check it out! Until next time . . . Steve Z over and out.

Leah and Matthew’s Boulder Colorado Wedding Photography at the Greenbriar Inn

Wedding season kicked in for real the weekend before last. Leah and Matthew got hitched at the Greenbriar Inn, which is out in the countryside halfway between Boulder and Lyons.

One of the million reasons why this is a great venue is its proximity to the mountains and a sweet little park where we took some great portraits. I was lucky enough to get a full hour to shoot, so we got some really nice shots. Leah and Matt a super rad couple, and really had a good time getting into the photography. Are they hot or what? I can hear little hearts breaking all over the internet already. :>)

Boys really like to jump. They think it’s way more fun than trying to fake smile for the camera like when your Grandma used to make you on those trips to Disneyland when you were a kid. I definitely don’t shoot like Grandma. She would never lie in the weeds in black pants thereby getting her butt all covered in stickers for the rest of the wedding. She’d probably know better.

I lichen the way that the ring detail shot came out. Oof. Bad pun intended. Sorry, I’m a dork. Anyway . . . can you get over how adorable these kids are? I can’t. Maybe I’ll put them on the banner for this blog!

Leah’s dad has this super cool vintage Dodge. He bought it new back in the day and has since had it restored. The paint is so perfect that I noticed it reflecting the couple during our portrait shoot. Wicked.

So these guys met through the triathlon crowd at CU. Matt is also a Marine. Which made for an interesting group of friends: guys who shave their legs + guys who are trained to kill. We were trying to figure out who was tougher, the Tri-Geeks wanted to run some laps up the mountain and the Marines wanted to do pushups. In the end everyone just ate a lot of really, really good cake. Matt cut the cake with his sword. Wicked.

I had my off camera strobes set up on the dance floor so that I could capture some dramatic lighting for the dances. Leah and Matt took secret swing dance lessons and busted out their moves to the surprise of all their friends for their first dance. I love unconventionality. I wasn’t sure if that was a word but my spell check says it’s OK.

And as much as I love unconventionality, I love traditional shots as well. And how can you beat a good ol’ Just-Married-Driving-Away-In-The-Cool-Car-With-The-Couple-Looking-Into-Each-Others-Eyes-In-The-Back-Seat shot? Simple. You can’t. Don’t even try. :>)
