Anna and Mike = Most Bestest Wedding Couple Ever
September 24, 2008 | Filed Under Slideshows, Wedding Photos | 1 Comment

If you ever want to gert on my good side, then you should text message me that you and your husband love me, like Anna does. You could probably get in good with a lot of other people in this manner as well.

We kicked things off at the St. Julian Hotel in lovely Boulder, Colorado. I got yelled at for sitting of the floor in the lobby shooting this next photo. I hope they know that they shouldn’t get in the way of art . . . I’ve already got another wedding booked there in 2009. C’mon, can’t you see how good she looks?!?!

And just in case you thought this was going to be an arty black and white blog entry . . . oh ho no! Bring on the color at the Koenig Alumni House on the University of Colorado campus.

I’m such a sap, sometimes when I’m shooting uber-close-up photos of my couples crying during the vows, I get sucked in. This was one of those times.

I found out that the night before their engagement shoot, they got in a big old fight, and that’s why they were so stiff during it. No such problems getting in the mood today! Anna and Mike like the funky shots, so I went hog wild.

Did I mention that we had a ton of fun? Seriously. Anna and Mike like to party.

Well I could stay here all night and post more photos, but I’ve got more more more weddings to edit. I’ll leave you with a sampling of silly and sweet, in that order. Anna and Mike are so in love it’s silly, and unplanned butt grabs are indubitably sweet. Steve Z out.

Oh ya, one more thing . . . the return of the wedding slideshow. To view Anna and Mike’s slideshow on its own page, CLICK HERE.
Mary and Doug Tee Off Their Marriage at The Ranch Country Club

I can’t believe that I haven’t posted anything on this blog this month, as the wedding whip has been cracking me all September. Well get ready for my best wedding posts to come here over the next couple weeks, because I’ve had awesome couples, awesome venues, and lots of wedding cake.

This wedding had the unusual twist that I was contacted by a woman looking for a wedding photographer for her Mom’s wedding! As you can tell by Mary’s photos, her daughter is clearly can’t be older than 5 years old. I can’t believe how young kids are getting cell phones these days.

But seriously, Erin (one of the daughters) is great, is probably the nicest girl on the entire planet, and is old enough to legally drink. Erin’s boyfriend better look out, she says she wants to hire me to shoot her own wedding really badly.

The grounds of the The Ranch had some super cool picture ops. I took some normal pictures first, but eventually gravitated towards my usual weirdness. They seemed to be having a good time no matter what I made them do!

I was a little concerned about the lighting conditions for the ceremony. The wedding was shot straight into a glaring sunset. I’m pretty happy with how the dramatic lighting turned out.

The reception was held in a beautiful indoor/outdoor dining area. I was pleasantly surprised that these guys came here ready to party! I have so many pictures of these guys laughing; it’s really great to see. You guys seem super happy together, so psyched for you both!

I also discovered a truism of wedding receptions. If you want people to dance, there is one sure-fired answer. It doesn’t matter, young or old, there are 5 letters to know. D-I-S-C-O.

I didn’t really do any getting ready shots, but I thought of a ring shot at the last minute. Another wedding in the books, tune back tomorrow when I return to good ol’ Boulder. Steve out.

Nikki and Dave’s Scrumptious Outdoor Wedding at the Pastures of Plenty

I love the Pastures of Pleasure. Oh, wait, I mean Pastures of Plenty! The Pastures are out in North Boulder County, and serve as a great laid-back outdoor venue. I love the pastoral feel and the unique photo opportunities that exist. I could spend days just shooting ring shots, with all the contrast of shiny smooth diamonds on the rough textural farm elements. I usually try to pick one good ring photo to show. Screw it, here are three of 20.

While Nikki likes my detail shots a lot, I told her that I’m obligated to show pictures her as well, since she looks so absolutely stunning.

There was a ceremony too. Some people were touched, some were joyous, and some took advantage of the shuttle to and from town, pre-partied, and brought their own bottle of Knob Creek Whiskey. I have pictures of the guilty, but I’m nicer than that.

Nikki and Dave didn’t mind, their eyes were too googley too see.

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE cake? Just know if you hire me that I will have to stop shooting for at least 3 minutes to eat a piece of cake. And then another three minutes a half an hour later if there is any left. Cake with real fruit is the bomb.

This may come as a shock, but at the Pastures of Pleasure, we shoot a lot of pictures out in the field. Oh right, you saw it coming didn’t you.

I almost had a moment of crisis at this wedding. The cake cutting was about to happen at the same time as an amazing sunset. Cake. Sunset. Cake. Sunset. Mmmmmm, OK, cake. Luckily there was some sunset left after cake.

Well nothing wraps up a good party like more dancing, partying, and more dancing. I mostly took pictures and lived vicariously through the Knob Creek Drinkers. C U next time!

Innovative Imagemaker’s Roadtrip to the Pearl Street Mall

Innovative Imagemakers, or I2, is a group that seeks to train and educate photographers. They hold several ‘Road Trips’ a year to various locations to conduct photo workshops. Well their wedding workshop met at 13th and Walnut, so after a long deliberation, I planned for the epic trek to walk one block from my office to hang out. Really I was there so I had an excuse drink nitro Margs at the Rio on a Monday night, but I got some pretty good shots in the meantime.
